Ivy Academics was founded by Stanford graduates and former Stanford faculty for the purpose of giving
students a genuine alternative to what most education companies offer.

Our SAT critical reading and writing program is designed for students who want to improve their verbal skills
substantially.  If you have already taken a prep course but did not see substantial improvement, you may
want to try our program as it is very different from most SAT prep courses.  Unlike typical prep courses, which
focus primarily on test-taking strategies and practice tests, our approach
develops reading comprehension and
writing skills.

The new SAT is quite different from the old SAT.  While the old SAT assigned 800 points each to the verbal
and quantitative sections (1600 points total), the new SAT has three sections (critical reading, writing, and
math) with 800 points for each section for a total of 2400 points.  This has, in a sense, changed the equation
for students whose area of strength is math.  They are "penalized" as the quantitative skills section is given
just a 1/3 weight in the overall score.

The prominence given to critical reading and writing and the longer length of the new SAT have raised the
stakes for ambitious students aspiring to enter selective colleges.  This  is especially true for students who
have solid grades and high SAT math scores, but whose verbal scores are relatively weak.  If you fit this
profile, our intensive Verbal Excellence course will give you the best chance of seeing substantial gains in your
critical reading and writing scores.  It will give you the competitive edge necessary for admissions to top
schools.

We are the only ones who offer an approach that will enable you to develop college-level reading and writing
skills as the basis for SAT score gains.  You will not find a comparable course elsewhere.  Our unique
"immersion breakthrough" approach has shown impressive results in helping students achieve significant
score gains.  But what we found most rewarding was the fact that lasting improvement in verbal skills
resulted from our program.
