                                    A Unique Approach to the SAT


     Verbal Excellence I & II

    Verbal Excellence is our flagship verbal skills strengthening course. It is highly effective in raising SAT
    reading and writing scores through improving college level English skills.

    Our Verbal Excellence I course is designed for students who have been attending American schools for a
    short period of time and for whom English is a second language

   Our Verbal Excellence II course is for students who are either native English speakers or have been in the
   U.S. for longer than 2 years. Students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and a minimum grade of “B” in
   English. Students must also be committed to completing the required assignments in this rigorous course.

The purpose of our VE II course is to introduce students to college level English at an

accelerated pace together with SAT test prep.

We seek substantial score improvements in this course. If students attend all classes and do all their

             homework, very substantial score gains can be achieved. The average score gain
             of Verbal Excellence Plus students is 210 points (critical reading and writing combined).

   Unlike most conventional SAT verbal prep courses that emphasize primarily test practice and test-taking
   strategies, this is an intensive course that strengthens college level reading comprehension, vocabulary,
   grammar, and writing skills.

   Students will be assigned extensive reading covering a wide range of genres (similar to the range of
   passages found on the SAT reading section) and will learn all the high frequency SAT vocabulary words. The
   writing component focuses on grammar and essay writing. Students will learn to generate ideas quickly
   from a given a topic, outline their thoughts, and compose a compelling essay.
